Parent Questionnaire

24th July 2015

Thank you so much for completing the questionnaires and returning them to school. 277 questionnaires were sent out and 103 were returned.

The questionnaires have been analysed by the Chair of Governors, Vice Chair and a further two members of the Governing Body. The comments in the questionnaires were anonymous and staff were not named individually.

For your information, the grid has been completed with the % response under the headings. We are delighted that the vast majority of the returns were in the ‘strongly agree / agree categories.

Of the 103 returns we had 26 comments in the section which invited comments. The vast majority were very supportive and some where we feel actions are needed e.g. Quotes

  • ‘Me and my partner are very impressed with the way ……has settled in since moving to your                   school in September. We feel an extra effort has been made to get to know both…. and                   ourselves which we are very grateful for’.
  • ‘We are very grateful to all teachers at GPFS for all their dedication and time they put in above and beyond the day to day stuff, well done to you all !!’.
  • ‘Whenever there have been problems, they have been dealt with quickly and appropriately’.
  • The School has a lovely atmosphere and the staff are caring & supportive’.
  • ‘Very happy with school. Very friendly. Children very happy & settled’.
  • ‘We love the school and staff!!  I couldn’t ask for a more supportive and loving team’
  • ‘My child is very happy at school. Thank you to all the staff who work incredibly hard to                 provide wonderful learning opportunities for the children’.
  • ‘Communication of upcoming event dates much improved since previous survey’
  • ‘I am happy that my child is developing into a more confident, self-assured person’.

Areas for staff / governor discussion

  • We had several comments about more activities, clubs in Broadway East’s hall. The clubs are open to children in both school and GPFS children do get the flyers. These clubs are private activities and fees are charged for them. At GPFS we have our own clubs run by staff which are free. Football, Premier Sports and French are privately run and there is a charge.
  • We had some comments about there only being two parent consultations a year. We have                 always had an open door policy and parents can make an appointment at any time to see the class teacher, headteacher or Chair of Governors.
  • A few comments re reading books: please note children can have a couple of reading books from school this is not a problem. Please ask your child’s teacher,
  • A comment about wanting to see videos of school activities- this is something which we are looking into and hope to have these uploaded to the school website soon, please keep checking the school website.
  • With regards to homework, this is set as advised in the homework policy which was sent out at the start of the academic year for Reception to Year 4 parents. It is also under the Policy section on the website. All homework is linked to class based work. If you are unsure about something please don’t hesitate to ask your child’s teacher or if you wish to discuss matters further please contact Mrs Sara. Mrs Sara and staff will be discussing homework on the training day in September. Holiday homework is optional and is requested by the children. In September we will send out a hard copy of the policy.

Please remember that we have our ‘Open Door Policy’ and ‘no matter what’, you are very welcome to talk to your child’s class teacher or Mrs Sara. The Chair of the Governing Body, Mrs Higgins has also stated in newsletters that she is available to talk to parents and an appointment can be arranged via the School Office, you are most welcome to do this.

We will continue to give you as much information as possible via the weekly newsletter, school website, texts and emails. We strive to look at ways to improve communication with you but would be very grateful if you could advise school if you don’t receive emails, texts etc.

Once again many thanks for your help in ensuring that we all work together for the best interests of the children and the School.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs M Higgins                      Mrs J Sara
