PSHE + RSE

PSHE/RSE Curriculum Intent

At Gosforth Park First School, our PSHE curriculum is thoughtfully designed to empower our students with essential life skills and values that align with our curriculum drivers: confidence, creativity, challenge, and community. We base our curriculum on the framework provided by the PSHE Association, ensuring a comprehensive and effective learning journey for our students

Confidence

Our PSHE curriculum places a strong emphasis on nurturing self-confidence and self-awareness in our students. Through a range of engaging activities and discussions, we aim to develop their ability to recognise their strengths, set achievable goals, and approach challenges with resilience and a positive mindset

Creativity

We believe that fostering creativity is crucial for the holistic development of our students. Our PSHE curriculum integrates imaginative and reflective activities that encourage students to think critically, express themselves freely, and explore diverse perspectives. By engaging in creative tasks, our students will learn to communicate effectively, solve problems, and embrace innovative thinking.

Community

At the heart of our PSHE curriculum is a strong sense of community and belonging. We teach our students the importance of empathy, respect, and understanding for others, fostering positive relationships within and beyond the school environment. Through collaborative projects and discussions, our students learn to appreciate diversity and become responsible and compassionate citizens.

Challenge

Gosforth Park First School is committed to preparing students for the complexities of the modern world. Our PSHE curriculum presents age-appropriate challenges that encourage students to broaden their horizons, step out of their comfort zones, and develop the skills necessary to navigate various situations with confidence. We believe that by embracing challenges, students grow both personally and academically.

PSHE Association Curriculum

Our curriculum is built upon the guidance provided by the PSHE Association, ensuring that our students receive a comprehensive education that covers key topics such as health and wellbeing, relationships, living in the wider world, and personal finance. We adapt the curriculum to meet the specific needs and developmental stages of our students, providing a relevant and meaningful learning experience.

More information about our PSHE/RSE Curriculum can be found below, including the detailed sequence of knowledge that is built from Nursery to Year 4, to ensure all of our children know more, do more and remember more.
