Our Curriculum

 The National Curriculum for Reception

In Reception, we follow the Early Years Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage, published in March 2014 by the DfES. This Framework specifies the requirement for learning and development in the Early Years and provides specific areas of learning we must cover in our curriculum. These areas are:
1.  Personal, Social and Emotional Development
2. Physical Development
3. Communication and Language development
4. Literacy
5. Mathematics
6. Understanding the World
7. Expressive Arts and Design

Nursery & Reception = “The Foundation Stage of Learning”.

We believe that the early years in school are the most crucial for children’s personal development and the development to positive attitudes to learning. We appreciate that you, as parents, are the most important people in your child’s life. You have already taught them a great deal before they come to us. We aim to work in partnership with you, valuing and developing what your child already knows. We recognise that all children are different. They each learn differently and develop at different rates. They all need to be valued equally. We aim to give children a happy, secure start to their school life, on which to build a successful education. Learning is fun at Gosforth Park First School.  Children working together, sharing their learning, skills and knowledge.
